Letter to Sir Alex Ferguson

Dear Sir Alex,

I've supported Manchester United since I was 6 and I'm now 37. For 87% of my time as a fan you've been 'the boss'; the greatest ever manager of our great club.

Your drive, passion, exacting standards and incredible achievements inspire me to work hard and relentlessly strive to achieve.

I am sad today at your retirement. As a season ticket holder it will hurt not seeing you in the dugout.

But as I look at your name on the east stand and your statue I will be proud and will continue to believe in our club that you rebuilt.

You deserve your retirement more than any man I know. Giving 27 years of your life to our club is more than anyone could have asked. Your contribution is immeasurable and will never be equalled.

My son is just 9 months old (pictured at 2 weeks old in August 2012). I can't wait to tell him all about you and he will be every bit a fan.

Thank you for everything Great Man.

Giles.
